Blog#1
Hey everyone! I’m Mia, 15, and I’m an exchange student from Louisville, Kentucky going to live in Kuala Lumpur for the next eleven months. I’m one of five high school students from the United States going to Malaysia through a cultural exchange program called the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study program, also called YES Abroad. I’ll be the only American student staying in Kuala Lumpur, but I’m super excited to begin my journey abroad!
I began this blog along with my friend, Sejal, who is also going to Malaysia. For me I want this blog to be a way for others to have an insight on my experiences abroad, and to share my story. I’ll also be creating a vlog series on YouTube to document my time in Malaysia.
I decided to apply for study broad programs because I feel like exploring unknown places and learning about different cultures is a great way to educate yourself on different point of views and ideas, and a big step towards making the world a more understanding place. For me, studying abroad sounded like a great way to explore different parts of the world, and to open my eyes to the diverse perspectives .
